Any Marshall owners on here?
I am currently a Marshall owner but have owned others but always come back to Marshalls. I have owned Jmps' Jcm-800s' and jcm-900s'and have sold them all for stupid reasons but got the chance to buy one 4 years ago locally and this is it. Mostly stock with no mods other than cosmetic.

Re: Any Marshall owners on here?
Yep I've had a heap Marshalls over the years and I've ended up selling them—with much regret. The thing is this: my band has a habit of reforming and breaking up on a regular basis and when we reform I need an amp—so I wind up getting a Marshall. Then we break up and I don't really need a Marshall 100 watt half stack taking up room so I sell it. And this has been my pattern for a few years now.
Last year we reformed but I thought I'd try something different and got a Randall 150 watt solid state half stack. I figured I was tired of lugging a heavy Marshall head everywhere so I thought the Randall being SS would be lighter and more suitable.
Well it turns out that the Randall head is almost as heavy to carry as any Marshall Ive ever had and it has the annoying habit of cutting out when the master volume is set anywhere past 5. I did some checking and found out that a lot of people have the same pfroblem so I contacted Randall and they told me the early production models had some issues but they're all sorted out now.
Anyways I'm still working out what to do about it but all I can say is: I wish I still had my Marshall!!!

Yeah in my opinion it's kinda hard to top a marshall for any kind of rock music except for the fender tone master that I used to own, that was cool as heck and I also had a fender dual showman that had been modified to have a distortion channel and that amp would rock your socks off. But if you want a boutique amp I'd want to get a hughes and kettner triamp. I was at a Goldfinger/ Save Farris show back in washington D.C. and got the chance to talk to Charlie Paulson and he had turned me onto that amp.

I don't think I've ever heard of the studio 15, is that tube or solid state? The JCM-800 that I had had a rough life as well, I took that amp everywhere with me. It's fallen out of the back of our van, been knocked off the speaker cabinet, beer spilled all over it and it took everything I could throw at it and all it did was smile.

Re: Any Marshall owners on here?
alright....yours has had the rougher life!
the studio 15 is a tube amp 12ax7's and 6v6's
and 15 watts as the name would infer
i went on the road with a hundred watt half stack
and came back with a fifteen watt combo

Yes, Marshall ...I own a 1987 jcm 800 2 channel 100 watt plus the 1960slant cab. This thing has gone to the pawn shop a few times when things were tuff but i always got it back, (thank god) Bought it new in 1988
Slayer, surf, country, I can get any sound out of it plus it has a great reverb. But it seems to weigh more each year.

The jcm-800 I had was the single channel 100 watt head with 6550 power amp tubes. That amp had some B@((s. even though it was a single channel I could get crisp cleans and dirty overdrive. The 900 that I have now I have reverb on both channels which makes it pretty versatile.

Hey Kev,
Of course! Nothing beats a Marshall. you can't go wrong with a 4100 head, just as long as you get it biased and good tubes in it. A cool trick is if you think it sounds too trebly, get an amp guy to install KT77's. it has a similar tone as el34's, but with a lot more bass.
Most 4100's came with 5881s, but you can have these switched over.
In my opinion the best guitar cabinet in the world is a Marshall B cab with G12H30's, preferably 55htz. these are the same speakers the ramones used back in 76. mix these with any marshall head, and you're cruisin'
awesome fucking tone!!!!!
