Mosrite advice/Question

Hello,

I have seen the below guitar on Reverb and i'm interested in it. I have done quite a bit of research (thanks to this great forum) and i have a basic understanding of Mosrite USA, Fillmore etc etc...

Does this one look like a 'good one' i.e a vintage 'Semi' USA made Mosrite.

Hi Andy,
There's a pretty good chance based on the pics what is being presented is a real USA Mosrite in nice condition.
The only problem I see is that it looks more like an early 70's than a mid 60's model.
Possible giveaways include the later font on the headstock, plastic rather than metal switch tip, and 'tall hat' control knobs.

Thank you. Buying a vintage Mosrite can be a daunting experience so any advice is appreciated.. Do we know what model this would be classed as..mark v etc... And are these seventies ones well regarded? I read someone the eighties ones are desirable as it's most likely Semi made them...

Lastly are there any questions I should be asking this dealer?

I think it would be a Mark 1.
Some consider the ones with The Ventures logo from the early sixties most desirable.
IMHO the ones from the seventies and eighties and even nineties can be just as good.
Beauty may be in the eyes of the beholder, in the hands of the player?
The ears of the listener? Sorry I got a little carried away....
Yes I would definitely ask the seller why he thinks it is a '66.
The non ventures are essentially the same guitar, but sometimes appear to cost less than the Ventures models...

The seller has agreed it is a 70s model! saying:

The hardware is certainly old, the plastic wiring looks 70s, lead solder joints, vintage pots (codes unreadable unfortunately.) There is light lacquer crazing but overall the guitar is in really good shape. Comes with rectangular fender style orange lined case (see listing photo.) It's certainly not a copy but at the same time having done some research and taking your points on board it is later than we first suspected. Very cool guitar though!

He has also uploaded some pics of the pots and neck.

I just bought a 1971 mark 1 ,before I did I spoke to Tim of Tyms Guitars and although the early mid sixty ones get the higher prices ,apparently the early 70s were lower production volume therefore more likely to be Semie involved in the build
Probably just a matter of opinion but Tym reckons the pickups in the early 1970 were awesome
Unfortunately men where gone so have replaced with Dana-mos

How did you identify your '71 was actually from that year? what things did you look for?

I have pots and they are dated
Also the serial number is V0031 which is from 1971 based on the info I got from the build list on here

I had (darn) what I have been told was a '72 s/n V0475. I never took it apart to check pot/neck dates. It had a beautiful mint cond. s/b finish and played like butter. Someone had put Seymor (sp?) Duncan pickups in it and it just sounded so weak.
