Seems like part of the swinging 60's Mosrite owners mindset included.a desire to upgrade to the latest look in neck support.
Extra holes in the neck tenons,
In this case, a Celebrity III 6str with extra holes under the neck plate, from the original 3 screw design.

It's A celebrity III. I got ahead of myself.
At one time it was a 3 Screw and washer.
The top and bottom 2 holes are where a Peanut Neck plate was added and covers all the drillin'
In the neck pocket photo, you can see where the top right hole was a miss.

All of the holes are within the original area of the peanut plate, I would just plug excess holes in the NECK, with epoxy, smooth them off and reinstall as original.

Coming from you, I am even more sure of my decision.
Spent a quiet evening last night doing tear down/cleaning/ reassembly of the non-roller bridge.
The guitar is in excellent condition. From an estate auction lot.
She cleans up real nice
Crisp edges, Zero surface checking, Minuscule corrosion
