darn Mel, that turned out sweet! Did Bob shade sell those saddles separately or did you have to buy the whole bridge assembly?

+1 - You did a great job on turning out an instrument to be proud of ... mine is in the final stages of clear coating - probably 9 more coats, then sanding/polishing, wiring, and fianlly (hopefully) assembly. Congrats on a beautiful guitar from a pile of parts!

Re: Semi - Mosrite?
KRamone - Bob sold me a complete first generation bridge for significantly less than the price of the current design bridges. I don't know if he has any more left, it might be worth asking.
El Twang - As for the camera, mine is a refurbished model I bought on eBay.
Gatton - I look forward to seeing your guitar when it's finished. Parts-rites of the world unite!

Re: Semi - Mosrite?
A few final touches to my Mosrite project were a Hallmark case and bridge saddles. The case is the usual high quality alligator case, now with purple liner instead of the previous orangey-red. Looks sharp and a nice tight fit for the guitar.
The saddles are from a first generation, non-locking bridge. I had to rethread them to fit the Mosrite bridge, but it worked out very nicely. First, here's the Mosrite bridge with the original angled, non-roller saddles.

Here's the bridge with the Hallmark saddles installed. The screw hole in the Hallmark saddles are slightly higher than in the Mosrite saddles, so the screws touch the tops of the guide holes in the bridge, which works well as it provides additional downward pressure on the saddles.

hey guys,
hopefully this isn't a stupid question, but on the 80's and 90's mosrites, why was there a metal bar going across the bridge? my guess would be to eliminate saddle buzz that mosrites sometimes are prone to. any ideas????
thanks.

Yep - that appears to be the intent of the metal bar. It has 3 screws that tighten down on the adjustment screws, creating a downward pressure, preventing the saddles from turning. The strange thing about the ones we have gotten from Curtis, is the angle at which the bridge saddles are drilled. They work, but they are non-roller, angled bridge saddles.

Re: Semi - Mosrite?
I strongly recommend installing Hallmark roller saddles on these bridges - the saddles need to be re-threaded, but that's a simple process with a $5 tool. With the roller saddles and the locking bar, this bridge is excellent - it rocks, it rolls and it's rattle free!

Mel, I emailed Bob, but haven't gotten a response as yet regarding purchasing some of those old style saddles like you got. Guess he's been kind of busy lately, eh?

Yup - I don't think they are going to be back from NAMM for a few more days. I did make a point of showing Bob my guitar and the way the Hallmark saddles fit - he seemed pleased with the results.

Re: Semi - Mosrite?
on my mosrites, I've eliminated the rattle just by tightening the acorn nut onto the saddle screw. problem solved. the only time it over becomes an issue is after a long period of playing (several months) I have to tighten them up again. the only thing is I just make sure my intonation is on first, cuz it makes it a little hard to adjust the saddle once it's that tight.
have you guys ever had similar experiences?

I wonder if some sort of thread lock might work for that?
