I have been following this forum for a while in anticipation of my getting the guitar, and now finally joined. I am really impressed by everyone's friendliness and willingness to share their experiences and information. I also learned how approachable and responsive Bob Shade is with existing and prospective customers. I've learned a fair amount on here and it's made my acquisition a smooth experience.
My guitar is a pearl white 2012 60 Custom with a black headstock. I emailed Bob and he verified the year for me via the SN, much appreciated. One weird thing about the guitar was that the bridge was on backwards, the intonation adjustment screws were facing the bridge pickup instead of the tailpiece (!!) Why someone would do this, and how they intonated the guitar with it in this configuration, is beyond me.
So, I removed the strings and became intimately familiar with the bridge. First thing I noticed was that the allen setscrews on the bottom were so tight I couldn't move the bridge sections. Got it all straightened out, put bridge back in, strung it with my favorite D'Addario Chromes, set bridge height and intonation. Wow, is all I can say -- this is such a fine playing and sounding guitar, with a vibrato that is smoother than anything I've played - I own several Fenders and a Gretsch w/Bigsby and this outdoes all of them.
Lastly, the previous owner had Davie Allan of the Arrows sign the headstock. While I'm normally not much on celebrity autographs on guitars this one at least adds a cool vibe
