Man, I'm with you on this one! I really never cared for the "Full Face Pickguards" they started using
in '66 on the Specials, Standards and Customs.
I always thought it de-faced the instrument (no pun intended).

Dennis,
I agree the partial (I don't know what else to call it) pickguard was much cooler. I sold that SG way back when I decided I wanted a Strat and only a Strat(I wanted to sound like the Strat player in Wishbone Ash). This was two Strats prior to the one I have now. It didn't occurr to me then that I could have both a Gibson and a Fender(doh!). Anyway, I sold it and have regretted it ever since. Everytime I listen to the Who Live at Leeds reminds me of what an idiot thing it was to let that SG go. The recent Gibson Pete Townshend tribute SG didn't really do it for me. The only other bigger regret was dumping my old Marvel comics(double doh!).

Byron, I've mentioned this on a few Forums, but it is so true. There's an OLD TUNE by the
Rock Band BOSTON, and the name of the tune pretty much says it all: "DON'T LOOK BACK."

My other fave guitar is the Ampeg Dan Armstrong Plexi.I have a Japanese Greco plexi and an Ampeg 2006 reissue and let me tell you the Greco blasts the Ampeg away totally.It has so much more volume and power it's amazing.I think with their own unique features and design, the plexi's are similar to Mosrites in that they are sure-fire attention getters and look gorgeous.

Hey Byron, now you've got me worried. Lately I've been thinking of getting rid of my huge Marvel comic collection, but if there's going to any pain and regret later on I might have to re-think it.

If you mean you're thinking of selling the collection, that wouldn't be bad. I on the other hand literally dumped my Marvel comics - in the trash. This was sometimes in the early 70's when these comics were still new.

Electrics:

Some First Act Strat style guitar (Horrible)
Squier Affinity Strat (Could be better, The neck is rubbery and some frets are too high)
Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Thinline (Which is pretty decent minus the truss rod being misaligned in the particular one I have)

Basses:

Squier P Bass (Bad, The neck is hard to slide on)

Acoustics:

Two cheap ones and a Harmony G-50A which has too thick of a neck.

Amps:

Some really bad practice amp
Fender G-Dec (Not very good)
Fender Rumble 15 Bass Amp (Decent sound)
Gibson BR-7 Practice Amp (Tube amp from 1950 or so, it has two tubes and sounds good)

So, The best of my gear is the Gibson amp, Tele Thinline and Fender Bass amp. The Tele is pretty decent for the price (I got it for $230 discounted) Although the truss rod was put in wrong. It functions properly but is harder to access. The neck, however, Is pretty stiff which is good and transfers tone better.
