Hello, My name is Beau and I have a Mosrite Joe Maphis model guitar that has a little bit of history to it and I am wanting to find out what year this guitar was made. First of all, My father was a country music singer, entertainer, actor and voice over artist for over 50 years. He bought this Mosrite guitar brand new for himself and his lead guitarist also loved to play it in the band when they were on the road. After my father hit it big in commercials the guitar sat in the case in a closet thru the 70's and we would get it out and relish it once in a while when he was traveling. In 1981 my father had a friend of his take the guitar to have new strings put on it and have it tuned and the receipt is still in the case with Charlie Louvin's name on it. The guitar was still never played again, it sat either in the case in a closet or was a conversation piece in the corner of the living room at Dad's house. Well Dad passed away two years ago and I always loved that guitar and I was lucky enough to get it. I had new strings put on it and found that the input jack was bent and needed cleaning because it would cut in and out when playing so I had a man service it for me and wow what a guitar. I don't play much, I am learning on an acoustic which was one of Dad's on the road guitars but I have a goal to play this Mosrite. The serial number is D 086.

Beautiful and clean! Wonderful story too.
What a closet classic, I bet it glows and resonates, those are sweet guitars.

Welcome to the forum, Beau. Sounds like a wonderful family heirloom. Any pics of your dad or his band with the guitar?

Thank you and no I don't have any pictures with this guitar in them sorry to say. Pictures I do have, Dad is either holding a Guild acoustic or a Gretsch acoustic and band members have their own instruments.

Hi and welcome. Nice looking guitar. Pardon me please but I'm not sure I know your dad's name, What is it if you feel like sharing?

My fathers stage name was Jack Barlow. You can google him or hear him on youtube. And thank you for asking.

Dad performed that song "I Love Country Music (I'd Rather Fight Than Switch)" during his first appearance in the Grand Ole Opry in 1965.
