Mosrite Mk II project and a few questions

Postby marcus » Fri Apr 26, 2013 5:52 pm

Hi,

So I decided that I want to build a Mark II. As of now I'm just looking up the materials and tools that I will need.

I have so far two questions that I haven't figured out yet, is the shape of the Mark I the same as the Mark II? Since that's what the template from Guitar building templates is, right? And is there any plans/traces of the pickguard available somewhere?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Marcus, the MK1 and MK2 are two different animals. The body's and necks have two very different shapes and routes. The templates online are for the MK1. Kevin

I think you may be speaking of a Mark V or Ventures II. There were two versions of the Ventures II.

I guess I should have said in the beginning that I want to build the same model as the ones Johnny Ramone played.

Could I still use the template if I change the routing, the pickguard and made the neck straight at the end or would it look weird?

Like the second one except for that I'll use a humbucker at the neck and a single coil at the bridge.

I found this blueprint:

I'm guessing it's the second version of the Venture II, is there a big difference in the outer shape of the body? Compared to the first.

Yes, That blueprint is of a later model Ventures II. I'm not sure if they have the same body shape as the Ventures II "Generation I" Model.

I compared it with a Johnny Ramone Mosrite and the only difference seem to be that the neck is connected to the body at a different angle. And tomorrow I'll see if I can get the it printed on one paper. So I guess the biggest problem is solved. Thanks for all the help so far!
