You're showing the determination of a true perfectionist. If you plan on making more than 1 of these, I would seriously consider the investment in a mini-mill. It will save you countless hours.

 yes when i will redo one i do with a milling machine (normally i may have do it at work but not the possibility, and my blank are a little too much need to have the good size at the beguin less work after )
buying a mini mill could be a solution but i don't know the quality of this little machine i imagine it is like planer ,router ect... the more you paid the more you can use it
yesterday i have plane some mapple and alder with my little planer for the mapple in 25 mm it is not easy for her ,i have a plank who is very hard
and after the alder 55 mm to 47 mm it don't want to cut it :o i have made thin pass less than 0,5mm very long
then i imagine this little milling machine are same thing
i have already look at for this and it is really little on the top you can't make really big part
the chuck doesn't accept big bit , the power is very low
sur it can help but you must have to grind by hand before or it will be very long
but in fact i think the next will be sandcast  (just to make the model in wood and it is easy, and after found a foundry and made it sandcast but for more than one cause if not it will cost to much (i think 5 or 10 mini)
the foundry at home is too dangerous :? for my test

It's no Bridgeport but certainly capable of turning out an aluminum tailpiece. I use it mainly for milling my pickup covers but use it for many tasks; I've made several stop tailpieces, accurately drilling bridge posts, cutting the truss rod channel, side position markers in the neck, any situation that requires a precise hole position. The X Y moving table really makes it simple. It has a capacity of 3/4" shanks.

I'd love to have a small Bridgeport (or other commercial mill) but this little machine does just about everything I need. They're made in China but work quite well for the money. I occasionally see an old Bridgeport in the $2000 range but they all seem to have a 3 phase motor which my shop doesn't have. And they weight a ton. . . almost! Maybe one day I'll find a little bigger one with single phase.

I know Corian is easier to cut than aluminum.

You're doing a great job. It sound like you might have access to a mill at work?

i worked on cn turning machine and when i was younger i was miller (don't know if it is the right word ?,a guy who work on milling machine )

This type mini mill is available at several places here. You'll see the same machine branded by different companies but it's basically all the same. Since you are in Europe there may be outlets there with this machine under a label you may be familiar with. Here's a supplier that I've purchased other equipment from:http://www.grizzly.com/products/G8689

One of the builders on the forum, Oldrocker, has a very nice substantial mill that he purchased from Canada. The price wasn't that bad either, but considerably more than these mini mills. I can't remember the name of it though.

Ludo, don't sell yourself short. It may not been what you wanted, but it's still a pretty amazing feat to have scratch built the whole vibrato!
