Just a shout-out to let everyone know that by the year's end, we will be pulling down most of our pickup listings on eBay. Only one or two of our most popular models will remain, such as the RH-100's. eBay's selling policies are becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with for a small custom guitar shop and it seems that most of the customers we deal with through eBay exhibit a very hostile attitude toward us, no matter how hard we try to communicate and offer help. We spend a great deal of time answering nearly-endless questions and phone calls from prospective eBay customers who may or may not purchase our items.
It seems that eBay's policies encourage customers to blatantly distrust sellers from the very beginning, and once the purchase is made through eBay, the clock begins ticking as eBay informs the customer when to expect their order - a feature that is nearly impossible to live up to consistently for an old-fashioned family business. Customers expect their items to be marked as 'shipped' within a day or two, along with a tracking number, and they expect their order to arrive within a few days despite our listing stating that we 'usually ship within 10 days.' And if something happens to go wrong they tend to curse and belittle us, our company, and our services before we even have a chance to put right what went wrong. This, all despite our having a 100% positive feedback rating.
Long gone are the days when people can chat on the phone and make friends with their clientele and get to know each other through years of working together. We supply pickups for all kinds of people and most of them are very friendly and pleasant to work with. We have found that most of the problematic customers originate on eBay.
The irony is that eBay's fees have made utilizing their outlet a very expensive channel for offering our pickups and services, and so we usually charge $15 to $20 more than the listed prices on our website.
For those of you who prefer to transact commerce through eBay, we apologize as we understand that this presents somewhat of an inconvenience. However, direct web-based and telephone orders usually allow us to offer more personalized and friendly customer service with far more congeniality.
If you wish to purchase pickups, other parts and hardware, or custom-made guitars, then please contact us either through our website - http://www.m3guitars.com/, by phone - (916) 760-8560, or email - guitars@m3california.com
