New member, waiting on my guitar...

Postby cracklepop » Tue Jul 17, 2012 8:20 am

I'm not very good at talking about myself...

The first time I saw a Mosrite in person, it was a black Japanese copy. I was 17 and I've been smitten ever since. I have several guitars, but a Mosrite was always just a little out of reach. I live in Kentucky, and you don't see a lot of Mosrite style guitars here. I did manage to score a Univox Hi Flyer (Phase 4) a few years ago, but it's just not the same. Two weeks ago, after getting a little extra money from a side job, my wife said she thought I should break down and buy one. (she is a keeper)

So, this past Monday, after lurking around the forums and the Hallmark website for a LONG time, I pulled the trigger on a Surf Pearl model. I agonized over what color to get, but it just looked amazing in the pictures. I actually emailed Bob Shade to see how much a custom color would be, but then decided I couldn't wait any longer. I guess I might just have to buy another later...

This is actually the first time I've ever bought a guitar without playing it first, but so many members here had great things to say, it seemed like it was my destiny. Haha.

I figured I should sign up here too, instead of just lurking.

I don't play in a band, just at home, and sometimes I record. I like instrumental, surf, and older punk music. Usually not all at once though.

I'm really excited to get my new Hallmark, but I haven't heard anything yet regarding a ship date. I'm trying not to be too impatient. Easier said than done, right?

Your intro was good! Welcome aboard, cracklepop ;)
You'll love your Hallmark; it's close to the shape and sound of the real deal. Hang in there while waiting, we've all been there, I daresay...

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! After I posted this, I got an email from Bob that my guitar has shipped. Hooray!

Now I'll just obsessively track it every minute for the next few days... ;)

I'm not the most patient person at the best of times but waiting for a new guitar arrive is sheer torture. Especially if it doesn't arrive on the day you hope or expect it to.
But once you get it the pain of waiting is obliterated by the pleasure of the new acqusition, so hang in there.

Aha! Someone else does it! Nice to know there's good company out there! I too am gassing for a Hallmark, but I have to quit building them for a while, and sell a few to acquire the necessary exchange... ;)

Good to hear from another Mosrite lover in Kentucky!
Just exactly which end of the state are you located?

Hi Tom, I'm in Louisville, originally from scenic Frankfort! :D

olrocknroller, selling is the hardest part, right? Do you sell some of the ones you build? I get so attached to stuff (especially guitars) that would be really difficult for me.

By the way, I got my tracking email and the guitar should be here Thursday! Whoa.
