Got the new Mo

Postby 64sunburst » Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:01 pm

So my friend and I did the trade - it's not an Excellent, but an Ed Roman Mosrite, which makes it a Fillmore? It looks a lot like Elliot Easton's pearl white Fillmore except this is a righty. I played it last night and it sounds way different from my Avenger. The Avenger sounds creamier while this one sounds kinda hi-fi...really clean but deep. That's Binky peeking out from behind the guitar. I'll post a another picture or 2 later.

Congrats on the new guitar! Looks like a Fillmore, and it also looks like Binky is trying to be camoflaged by the tortoise pickguard!

Byron, you may have a hard time explaining to Binky that also the 'scratch plate' is out of bounds for kitty

Thanks for the comments! I'll try to get more pics up but I'm pretty slow that way. Maybe I can get Binky to pose for some more shots! But seriously, I was surprised at how different this sounds from the Avenger, especially on the higher notes which come out much crisper.

Great score Byron--Great looking guitar and the puuurfect kitty to go with it. The pickups on the Fillmore have more windings and the windings are tighter thus giving the sound difference you are hearing. The Fillmore pickups are very close to the original Mosrite pickups that were wound when Semie was alive so you should be able to get some great twang from this fine instrument.
