My name is Samantha.
I'm a luthier in Denver CO.
A few months ago I had a customer bring me a beautiful mosrite ventures guitar.
Then he brought me another one, sweet!
They just needed setups and I must say they both set up quite nicely. (these guitars are a breeze to work with)
Yesterday he brought what he says he believes to be '77 and the kicker, it's a bass!
I play bass more so then guitar so this one has me super exited.
It's amazing, even with it's worn frets and a bit too much relief it actually plays quite well.
It really makes me want one for myself lol.
Now the main reason I joined up here, other then to look at all these sweet guitars
is because this 77 has had a rough life.
At some point a previous owner did a real hack job of refinishing it,
it has nicks and gouges galore and is in need of some serious love.
The plan is to do a full on restoration and return this beauty to what it once was.
Now, I could just repaint it for him replace the missing parts with new and call it a day but I'm a perfectionist, so it has to be done right and that is why I am here.
I'm hoping to first do as much research as I can and have a solid plan before starting.
I've already disassembled it and taken a few pictures and hope that I can start a thread here detailing what needs to be done, what information I'm lacking and then once I get started a step by step documentation of what's being done.
To close I would just like to thank you all for letting me into your wonderful forum, you guys are much appreciated.
~Samantha.
