A bit of advice please
I have been offered an 1988 Mosrite guitar ( i do not have any pictures ).
The guitar has Mosrite 1988 in bold print on the headstock , it is also
signed on the headstock by Semie and on the back in the same handwritting is Mosrite
forever and dated .
The guitar is finished in an very dark 2 tone burst and is in mint condition and cased , the finish is original but does
not look perfect ( it has " orange peel " texture) . The finferboard is maple but has what looks like an rosewood veener between the fingerboard and the neck .
Has anyone got any information on this model and value as i have nothing to compare it to.
thanks in advance

Maybe a little less depending on if it's a partsrite or whatever. I got my V88 for $1400 for whatever it's worth.

thanks for all the advice , is there anyway to tell if the guitar is an stock model or has been put together using old parts . Also is common for the V88 to have " orange peel " spray marks ?
He also has an all gold Mosrite V88 but i do not think he will part with it .

I wouldn't know if it is common in V88 finishes but a professionally done finish would have to be perfectly smooth, I would say. It could be a sign of a (partial) touch-up. What percentage of 'orange peel' evidence would you estimate?sheldon wrote:Also is common for the V88 to have " orange peel " spray marks ?

my M88 does have a lot of orange peel, probably from shrinkage, The paint appears to be a base clear process

I don't remember ever seeing a Mosrite with a maple fingerboard. A photo would help sort things out. -Terry

Well 'crack my eye' I must be lost in the 60's Danny, that one fits the description to a T.
