While having my morning coffee I decided to give the MOP a whirl to see what that is like to work with.
First I used some acrylic plastic to make a "template" of the "S" curve that I want. This is only for the first block as each block gets smaller and smaller in height so the "S" curve will change for each block. My goal was to make a template that will allow me to be consistant with the degree of the curves.

Using the template, I used a fine tip Sharpie to make the S curve in the center of the block.

The trusty jewelers saw cut through the MOP just fine, but it is definately harder and therefore a little more time consuming that the turqoise.

Once the cut was made, I now have the left and right sides of my inlay block.

I used my baby files to dress up the edges and make sure my "seams" are going to be nice and smooth.

Satisfied with my two sides, I then cut out the center from the turquoise. This is the rough cut that will be filed and fitted between the two pieces of MOP. I'll do that tonight as I ran out of time this morning and had to get to work!

More to come!
