Joe Maphis guitar strap

Postby TerryTNM » Thu Mar 31, 2011 7:20 am

I thought some might be interested in this historic piece. Here's Joe Maphis's original strap that he
used on his original Mosrite Special doubleneck. Jody Maphis, Joe's son kindly showed us this strap
on one of our trips to Nashville.

The Maphis family awarded young Bryan Browne Joe's strap that was used on his second Mosrite
doubleneck. Rose and Jody were so taken with the talents of Bryan Browne's abilities and efforts
to duplicate the anthems that made Joe so famous. Bryan is a very lucky young man but also quite
deserving. If you've ever heard him play a Maphis tune you'll know why he got it.

Here's the man (boy!) himself...indeed impressive, Terry (I should learn to tune my guitar like he does :o )

I couldn't resist.
Here's Bryan in Bakersfield playing with Brian Lonbeck. Perhaps the most famous Maphis tune of all. Fire on the Strings.
And Bryan playing his TNM to boot.

For sure a dying art. Terry many many kudos and good vibes to you for keeping this historic legacy alive.

This era was full of talented players, and a few rose above. Mr Maphis is one of those legends I hope time keeps
