Aloha!

Postby Bonahalamora » Wed Feb 23, 2011 7:04 pm

Hello Mosrite forum!

Soon (probably tomorrow!) I'm going to get myself a Mosrite guitar, so now I'm in a big mess - varios models, years, factories.. I'm trying to learn all I can find about history of Mosrite guitars to make the decision. Also it's all not so easy for me because I have to buy guitar online and have no chance to play it before purchase.. There's no Mosrite dealer in Moscow, Russia and absolutely no vintage Mosrite market at all.. )

I would appreciate any help (I still have too many unanswered question.. )!

Anyway, let me introduce myself.

My name is Pavel. I'm a musician, performer and electronic music producer from Moscow, Russia. For last 27 years I was learning, making and playing music live in many different ways - in the beginning, during my childhood I had about 10 years of private piano lessons, after graduated as a guitarist from jazz academy in Moscow, later continued to learn and perform electronic and live music by myself. For last 7 years I perform and record with many different bands and project in Russia and abroad, writing scores for cinema and animation films, recording my own music at the home studio. Play guitar, bass, keyboards and trying to learn pedal steel guitar. My sonic tastes are mostly in the territory of avantgarde, experimental music, free jazz, brilliant new wave, world music, surf, soft and unusual electronic music, one of a kind music )

I'm into other kinds of art as well - a part of me is a painter- it's not so hard to find me at my studio during the night standing infront of canvas with oil colors..

Hope I explained a little who am I and what do I want ))

Feel free to contact me with any ideas, questions.. I'm open to conversation!

Hi, Pavel--

Welcome to Mosrite World! My only advice to you, since Mosrite and Mosrite-styled guitars embrace many models at many price levels, is not to rush your purchase.

I'd spend a few weeks-- at least-- going through this forum and clicking onto sites you find referred to here. Also, the forum members are always happy to answer questions and provide history and background on the various instruments.

Really-- this forum is a treasure-trove of info and you will be amazed how many choices are out there.

Enjoy the ride--

--Jim

Welcome Pavel. If your Mosrite-fever is running a high temperature and you need to remedy it real quick, you can do what I did in 2009 and buy a Hallmark 60 Custom, online  http://hallmarkguitars.com/guitars/60-custom.htm ....shipping took only one week!
You can also get a Fillmore Mosrite from  http://www.frontporchmusic.net/
Bob Shade (of Hallmark Guitars) and Artie Niesen (from Front Porch Music) [user name "Bakeoboy"] are both members on this Forum and are pleasant and helpful to deal with.
We have forum members here too who are professional luthiers and build the finest instruments you can get.
There's Eddy Elliott and TerryTNM, to name just two. If you know what to look for, there is ebay of course.
For myself I find the Hallmark most suitable because of the slightly wider fretboard which is closer to a Stratocaster than a Mosrite and the excellent quality and price; I am still very happy with mine:
