I'm doing my noob duties by posting the about me thread. That way I don't get booted!
But I'm 27, living in Columbia, Mo and work as a 911 dispatcher here in Columbia. So I'll probably always have somewhat of an odd/interesting perspective on a lot of things. I am however a Jefferson City, Mo native.
While having the misfortune of growing up in Jefferson City, I still managed to try and absorb as much culture as I could through music. I started w/ the regular classic rock stuff everyone cuts their teeth on that was always around on the radio or in my Dad's record collection (which to be honest...was kind of lame for someone who was in their 20's during the prime punk rock times.) So since I started playing at 13 I basically learned every Zeppelin riff I could!
The worst thing that could have happened to a young guitarist happened though. I discovered punk rock. So I went from Hendrix, (whom I still love.) Clapton etc...to The MC5, Stooges, Ramones, Black Flag, Misfits and other numerous noise and hardcore, Stoner, Rockabilly, rock bands that have come up since then (Reverened Horton Heat, Cramps, Unsane, Zeke, Refused, Fu Manchu, QOTSA.) I also dabbled in metal (Slayer, Mastodon etc.) However, while growing up in a town w/ not too many things to do, you also spent a lot of time watching movies. So upon watching movies like Pulp Fiction, I ended up discovering more music within the Surf rock genre. I immediately started turning the gain down on my amps and cranking the reverb. My parents found it weird to be hearing Ventures, Dick Dale, Lively Ones, and Link Wray riffs coming out of my room.
Now that I look at that list of bands, I just realized how many of those bands had Mosrites on album covers.

Not to mention the obvious Ventures or Kurt Cobain's Hi-fliers.
In playing in numerous punk rock and metal bands since I was 15, I've owned a few copies but never a real Mosrite. I've had a Hi-flier, a Dillion, and the Danelectro Hoodad guitar (blue sparkle w/ bigsby) and the Hoodad bass. Unfortunately I've sold all of them. And getting more interested in the Hallmark stuff.
After getting bored playing in the same kind of heavy/loud type bands. I've recently joined up w/ a loud Surf band called The Jovian 5. (unfortunately, no clips just yet, but it's a surf band with guys who listen to punk rock. So it's has a sound that seems to have it's foot in the gutter than in the waves.)
I'm pretty familiar w/ the forum as I've been lurking the past few months. But I'm also a fairly regular poster at places like Harmony Central (thesinner66). So I can work the interwebz sometimes!
In non music related stuff, I'm happily married (no kids yet, but I do enjoy working on it.) And I'm pretty much a rabid KC Chiefs fan. Even if they're losing...I still love em as much as I'll hate them at the time.
Also in general...I'm not this long winded!
But I am glad to be here and contribute to the site.
Cheers!
