My "Mosrites" aka "Morales"

Postby popp » Wed Jan 26, 2011 7:18 am

Hello fellow Mosriders,

I thought I could share a few pics of my two japanese made Mosrite copies with you (instead of just lurking around).
The turned-to-yellow one is a Zen-On Morales copy, the other pretends to be (or is) a Mosrite Avenger. Enjoy:

Thank's! I kind of like the Morales tremolo. It's not an exact copy --- it's a few millimeters bigger (in every direction)
than the Moseley and it has a slightly different shape. I think Morales built a sandcast model from scratch...
I'm not even sure they had an original Mosrite in their workshop... :?:

The last one I watched (Ebay) sold for 830,00 USD - including 150 USD for shipping from Japan to somewhere in the world ... I don't know....
I paid a little less than that because of the shabbier condition --- something that I like actually.

I have no idea how it is in Australia or in the USA but in the European Union you have to add another 20%
for the customs fees / taxes to the full import price (means: you have to add the shipping costs to the price of the item!)

Bummer.

yeah i paid a bit less than that too
if you like shabby condition http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b119692463 :P
or something a bit more pristine http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w50508377 is your bag ...
in australia if something under $1000 there are no fees (maybe a $40 fee if they have to open & inspect it in quarantine) if it's over $1000 then 10% GST
I've actually got 2 on the way.bought the cream one tonight cause it was cheap and the white one needs some parts so I guess sometime soon there'll be one for sale (can I say that here?)

Haha, the shabby one is really nice - the trem arm is easy to replace and I really dig the guard.
Thing is: I can't read japanese (Google translator is kind of cryptic  ). Do they ship outside of Japan?

Anyway, I promised myself not to buy another guitar. I want to build one.
Actually I'm saying that for about two years. One day... :D

Do you have a link to the one on eBay?
I've bought guitars from japan only to see it on eBay from a 3rd party at twice the price
That real shabby one has a split in the side of the body I think but that pics been removed?

Sorry rynaro, I can't tell you much about the Morales brand... I found an older discussion on the forum with a little more info: http://www.mosriteforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1437

Soundwise: I'm not really sure and by far not a specialist - The Morales sounds twangy and clear and perfect for surf to me but I can't compare it to a real Mosrite just because I don't own one. I'd say the construction is really close to a Mosrite and so is the sound...
