Newbie

Postby telecastermaster » Thu Jan 20, 2011 8:14 am

Hello all, I'm the new guy from Cherry Valley, CA. I fell across this site after messing around this weekend. I actually can't even remember what linked me here. My first intro to Mosrite was when I was just starting out playing guitar as a teen, my aunt's husband had a bunch that were supposedly actual guitars belonging to The Ventures. I'm pretty inclined to believe it because Gerry "borrowed" my aunt's early Squire Strat (which I now own) for a tour of Japan and upon return, signed it. He somehow loved how it played.

Anyway, I plan on making a Mosrite soon. I was really inspired by the photo tour that Ed Elliot posted and it really seems possible.

Thanks for all the info that I've been reading over the past week and I look forward to learning more.

Brian

Welcome to the forum. You wouldn't happen to have photos of your aunt's husband's guitars?

Sadly, I don't have any pics. I was young then and did not ever imagine myself being in the position to make my own guitars or ever fall so far in love with Mosrites.

I also didn't mention earlier out of fear of being lynched, that as a teen I ruined the signed pickguard from Gerry. I kick myself in the butt on a regular basis for that.
