Hello from central Pennsylvania

Postby roberto » Wed Dec 08, 2010 10:47 am

Hello!

My name is Rob, Im a student at Penn State currently. My friend recently brought up his old Mosrite to school. We strung it up, tried it out and it sounds awesome! I've done some research on it, but have not found much about it. It says its made in japan on the neck plate with a number.

Two issues I have now are that it buzzes on some of the lower frets and it dosn't hold a tune very long before going out. I havn't tried to fix these things yet but I'm going to get to it soon.

For now I just want to find out more about what this guitar actually is. Ill definately post some pics soon to try and identify it.

Just saying HI! Talk to you all soon.

Welcome to the forum, Neighbor. (I'm in Pennsylvania too) We'll help you ID the guitar, Even though you haven't posted pics yet I'll try to help. Does it have an oddly shaped neck plate (Which is what vintage Mosrite guitars have) or is it rectangle shaped? If its rectangle shaped and says "Avenger" on the headstock its a Firstman made guitar so its a Japanese copy.

Welcome, Rob! I have one of these - hard to pin down a date on these Firstman copies - range from the late 60s to early 70s - my SN is 0002334. Mine doesn't have the "Avenger" logo on the headstock - only the Mosrite. Bigger necks than Mosrite originals, but a very good sound, and the hardware and p'ups are as hot and good as any I've heard. Not a very pricey instrument, but a very solid guitar.
