Mosrite Inspired Yellow Jacket Tribute Guitar

Postby equalizerjag » Mon Sep 20, 2010 8:26 pm

Hi everybody,
Here's a MK1 inspired guitar that I made, to match my boat. It's a one piece Mahogany body, features a fully bound side jack and has a one piece Mahogany set neck. Scale is 25", 12" radius, back of neck shaped to match my '79 Les Paul Custom. It also has a tilted headstock and volute. Pickups are Prodigy Humbuckers and have been tapped. The top of the body was bleached, then stained the appropriate colors to match the deck of the Yellow Jacket boat. The back of the neck has a modified version of Yellow Jacket's jet logo. The headstock logo was taken from the 1955 Brochure.

By the way, Roy Rogers was half owner and promoter of these boats. He also raced YJs and used them on his TV series.

-Jeff

Very nice build - that guitar reminds me of the one Semie built for Brian Lonbeck. Excellent job!

What an awesome guitar Jeff, a real beauty; it would float my boat, for sure :D
I find the matching white trussrod cover also very pleasing.

I'll make a deal with you. Let me have to boat for my soul. I'll trade the boat for my soul back and then you give me the guitar and the boat and we can call it even.

Wow. :o That's truly stunning.
What did you use to get such a high gloss on that badboy?

And good call on the p'ups. I dropped a set of Prodigy 'buckers in my Iceman earlier this year and I was an instant convert. I've snagged several sets since.
