Copyright Issues?

Postby mikethemod1992 » Sat Sep 18, 2010 6:05 am

I would like to begin making Mosrite influenced guitars and selling them on ebay or something like that. Im really taken with the Mk. I and Mk V designs. I would obviously not be advertising my guitars as mosrite and would be making up my own names for the models. Would i have to contact mosrite in order to work out some sort of licensing deal or something like that? If i have no name on the headstock does it not really matter? Im not quite sure what hallmark or EF Elliot guitars has done if they needed to do anything at all. Or is this just one of those "dont ask dont tell" type scenarios. I just dont want to end up stepping on anybody's toes. cheers

Amongst others, I'm sure Tim of Tym's guitars will have something to say on the subject...he makes Moswrongs, Wosrites, Waswrongs and whatsnots all the time ;)

My post is no help at all so far, but I can add this;
check with mr Elliot and mr Shade on this forum, they'll have something interesting to tell you, no doubt.
Also see if you can get some legal advice from your local Patenting Bureau or something.
Stepping on toes is one thing, entering a business venture unprepared is another.
