Good eye Danny! I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. Hmm, would they work together or do you think the original one is disconnected?

Unknown to me. I'd guess it's a different value to give it either a brighter or mellower tone depending on value and the original was left there disconnected just so it would remain all original. I've never tried two caps coupled together so I don't know the out come. Two together would definitely filter out more highs, but it would be much simpler to change the cap values.

i've put the two together before, and generally it just adds to the sweeping effect on the tone control. maybe this was done to get a darker tone on one of the pickups. this would really be the only reason for this add on if both are still connected.

AS admitted when I posted the pic..........
:P Since I be the culprit that messed with this poor little lady. And since its hard to see in the photo. I'll clear it up. There are actually 2 foreign components wired together (cap and a resister). The cap isn't in parallel with the tone cap.

Its a tone bleed to keep the bridge pickup from loosing treble or getting muddy when the volume is turned down.

Oh, OK. I didn't see a resistor. Is it under the orange drop capacitor? Also, is one leg of the original cap disconnected?

Hey Rich,

this is kinda funny. I was just looking in my little workshop at a couple of pots that came out of a Celebrity Bass. They are 1346814 and 1346815. What are the odds of that!
