Danny,
Wow, that router incident sounds like a real mess. Of course it doesn't surprise me that you could repair it. I bet you could mask it pretty well on a sunburst too - you did a heck of a job hiding that nasty plug through the body on my Partsrite:

Besides, even professionals sometimes drill through bodies: ;)

I feel for ya Danny, I've had this happen to me as well. If my router wasn't attached to a table at the time i would have thrown it across the room!

Hey Danny, a bummer for sure but thankfully you didn't injure yourself?

My bad luck continues. Today one of my shop fans took a dump for no apparent reason. Next my jig saw started rattling inside, so I had to dismantle it a find the source of the problem. Last, the bridge assembly that I ordered through Guitar Center did not arrive last Saturday, so there's no need to start on the pickguard as I cannot fit the bridge cutout with out it. So for all you photo geek's, I'll go ahead and show what I have so far. The neck is only sitting in the pocket and looks a little distorted. The body photo's show the damage from the router both front and back. It all blended well with the epoxy filler so it will be alright when painted.

It's really looking great so far Danny! Sorry for the mishaps. Murphy is really working overtime on you!

hey danny,

when I was working on my mustang project, i did the same thing ordered parts from guitar center. when the parts didn't show up I ended up having to call fender directly to find out that the "F" neck plate and the tremolo assembly was back ordered for 6 months or more. not saying this is the issue for you, but just as a heads up maybe you should call fender directly and if you can't get it, at least you can began looking in other places instead of waiting. I ended up getting mine on ebay from a parts dealer.
the project is looking great though, i can't wait to see it completed, and check out the desert tan paint you have picked out :D
Cheers,

Yeah, I just called GC and it's a no show. I needed a break anyway. I'm looking forward to the paint myself.

Think I'll fix myself a margarita and forget about it for today. ;)

Cool project! I've had a Mustang and a Duo-Sonic, great guitars but I just couldn't get used to the short scale. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Still waiting for the bridge assembly but I have everything ready to go. Whenever the bridge arrives I will make the cutout in the pickguard where the bridge sits for installation plus set the nut, so for now this is it. The next photo's will be of the finished product. Hopefully I'll be able to get the color right on my photographs. I see they are gray hazy color and I don't know why.
