Tom DeLonge strat project.

Postby KRamone27 » Fri Jun 11, 2010 3:28 pm

As if I didn't have enough projects on my plate I start another one. I've wanted a Fender Tom DeLonge model strat for a number of years now but never had the money for one. But now I'm getting to the point where it's not so far away. I bought a fender robert cray model hard tail body off of ebay and found a pickguard locally and I'm on my way to getting this project going. Original specs will be applied right down to the treble bleed circuit, seymour duncan invader pickup and single volume control.

cool project Kev. I had no idea the Tom DeLonge had a treble bleed. Those invaders are cool pickups, they give off a type of feedback I've never heard on another guitar. My friend Richard had the exact same setup on his strat back in the 80's way before Blink 182. the only difference is his guitar was sea foam green. He's convinced Tom stole his idea ;)

hey kev, maybe it's the pic, but it kinda looks like Tom's has a yellowed pearl pick guard.

Nice going Kevin. My MIM Stratocaster has the CE sticker on the neck plate also ;)

Yeah it also has 9 holes and mine has 11 holes. I noticed that as well.

hey kev,

on my bro's pink sparkle guitar he had the same pickguard on his strat before I refinished it and he didn't like it cuz his hand would hit the volume knob while playing punk style. maybe this isn't an issue for you, but thought I'd mention it.

I got parts on order for this so it shouldn't be too long before this is done.
