I finally had a chance to take out the doubleneck at a gig! This past Thursday we did an impromptu gig at our local haunt, the Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge. Here it is in action!
In addition to jumping back and forth between necks for most songs, we invited our friend Ferenc, leader of local surf group Pollo Del Mar, to join us for a double neck rendition of Diamond Head.

Not sure why we look so glum here. Our drinks must have been empty.

Wow Mel! That is a beautiful picture. I hope you take a lot more like that. I can tell you she will greatly appreciate it when she's all grown up. Great memory!

The double neck in action!
Very cool. Did you and Ferenc work up a little arrangement ahead of time or did you guys just wing it?
BTW, I met Ferenc when he was in Ft. Lauderdale. He was hanging at The Mai Kai when our local surf band Cutback was doing one of their regular gigs there. Nice guy. Wish we had more time to talk.

Looks very cool, Mel. So how about two arms, six pickups and two necks? ;)

Great pics Mel, thanks for sharing! Good to see the Danny-Mo' put to use and to full capacity too! :D
And oh yeah, those looks on your faces  ...I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets comments from some folks about my glum face sometimes; ...I hear it IS professional though

Cool that you met Ferenc, Strat-o-rama! He's originally from South FLA. His wife Karen is the shayne maydele on keys in MBP. Ferenc and I used to play in The Mach IV together and he was also in the original MBP lineup. I suggested he come up to play Diamond Head and we gave it a whirl. Not anything we rehearsed. It came off pretty well, especially considering I couldn't see what I was playing as Ferenc's fretting hand was in my sightline to mine!

As far as expression while playing, I'd rather look serious than in gastronomic distress.

El Twang, I think a six pickup double neck would be cool - probably as a 6/Bass 6. Of course that might be the devil's guitar - 6 string guitar, 6 string bass, 6 pickups!

Cool PIX Mel! Were you and Ferenc playing in harmony on the 'Diamond Head' tune,
or was it the ol' one play lead and one play rhythm? :)
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

For the most part we played the same part an octave apart. Shecky was handly rhythm duty. I think the moment in the picture was between verses, so Ferenc was playing the Am chord and I was vamping the bass.
