Re: CARS and GUITARS

I had a 68 Corvette with the L88 427 and a 70 Firebird trans Am many years ago. I have been involved in restoring some old cars for my neighbor. 1 was more of a modified Ford Super Duty rollback. It started life as an 89 rollback that in 2000 the transformation to what it is now started. We took a 56 Ford fire truck cab and built a tilt nose and it is now a working 89/56 Ford rollback. I may have a picture or 2 of that if I can find them. The next project we did was a ground up restoration on a 54 Chevy 3 window pick up. 3 years in the making and it is now a 5 window with 235cid and 3 single barrel carbs and it runs like a top. I don't have any pictures of that one for some reason but it was on the cover of an east coast magazine last year. It is called the Cherry Bomb. They were fun projects.

Mel, that's what KILLED the T-Bird Convertible. When you put the top down, you HAD NO TRUNK (LOL).

Trunk? TRUNK? C'MON MAN WITH A RIDE LIKE THAT YOU DON'T NEED NO STINKIN TRUNK. :ugeek:

AND IN REGARDS TO THE OVERHEATING PROBS.... TRY INSTALLING A DIFFERENT TEMP. RATED THERMOSTAT. IF ITS OVERHEATING TRY A LOWER RATED TEMP. THAN THE FACTORY RECOMMENDS. ANOTHER COOL TRICK I'VE LEARNED IS TO DRILL A SMALL HOLE ON THE INSIDE EDGE OF THE FLANGE. THE PRESSURE IN THE SYSTEM WILL ALLOW YOUR COOLANT TO HAVE A CONTROLLED CONSTANT CIRCULATION EVEN WHEN THE THERMOSTAT IS CLOSED. THEN AGAIN IT'S ALWAYS FUN TO PULL OFF THE HOOD AND CRUISE IT RAT ROD STYLE!!!

I drive a Ford Fiesta, but I'm more than wishing I was in a '71 Dodge Super Bee, among others...!!

My dad has a few old Cadillacs though - a '71 Eldorado, '75 Sedan DeVille and a '64 Callais.. and a '96 Brougham. He's a bit of a fan I suppose.

Well, I sold the T-bird a few years ago, so I don't know what the final answer to the overheating puzzle was. On the bright side, I will say the car looked pretty mean spewing steam out of the hoodscoop!

Blimey Bob, no major cash flow problems then!!

I have a buddy here in Tulsa that has a 2006 model like yours but in red, I dont know a thing about Vipers but it has the same exhaust exit as yours, sounds darn mean too, lovely car, though I doubt its a 'special' model...

I bought it a year ago after a long search. When I was in college I bought a brand new one for $3,300. It was white with black interior and rally I wheels. I couldn't find a white one like it in my search so I settled for this one. It is a very rich and unusual color which they only produced in '65 and '66.

ElTwang, that is beautiful. Are the chain guard, fenders and back rack original?

Is it much trouble to pack around your guitar and amp?
