What are these buttons?

I have been feverishly working on my website (which is getting pretty huge) and have been looking at a lot of images over the weekend. I have collected photos and/or serial numbers to 116 Celebrities, so far. Yay! I am finding all sorts of cool stuff. Which brings me to this 1973 Celebrity-I. This guitar has two buttons that I have never seen on a Mosrite Celebrity. They look like they just push in and push out. They look period correct, but I don't know. Can anyone tell me what they are, if they were original, etc? Help please!

Additional note: In looking at my samples I found another guitar with these two buttons, so I am thinking they are original. Both of the guitars serial numbers were from the 1c prefix and early 70's. Also, please excuse my ignorance on this, but are these pickups called Humbuckers? When I zoom in I can just make out the Mosrite logo under the second row of screws.

Depending upon how these were ordered (which I just found out about recently), these 'Switchcraft push-buttons" could ACTUALLY be ordered
as 'Bypass Function" switches (VOL & TONE), 'Out-of-Phase' switches, 'Bypass VOL' only or 'Bypass Tone' only. I actually met someone here in the
South Florida area just recently with his 2 Mo's, his being the latter 2, which I have never seen before ........

I've got a similar guitar (1C01xx) and the buttons are bypass. Top one bypasses vol/tone for the neck p'up, bottom one for the bridge.

You'll see a similar button on the Bluesbenders. That's inverts the phase of the neck p'up, giving it a funky sound as it causes some signal cancellation of the bridge pickup. Doesn't do anything if you're using one or the other pickup on their own.

At least, that's how I understand it. Corrections, anyone?

No, they actually are both MARK VIIs (Both guitars are equipped with Humbuckers)...... .

Sarah--they're humbuckers. And those pushbuttons could also be dual-to-single-coil switches, although the bypass option is more common, if the word "common" can be used to describe something as rare as that Celebrity. I got a Mosrite catalog when I got my 350 Stereo in '74, and that variant was in it--could even have been that actual guitar, as the one in the catalog was the same color. Or not--I haven't seen the catalog in 30 years, and I seem to recall that the one in the catalog had black pushbuttons.
