For two of those guitars, Ed was faithfully replicating the originals that had to have the trem recessed into the body 'cause the neck was lower than anticipated (or the trem just ended up being too tall!). So he recessed for the trem and added the infamous "mistake plates" that concealed the edges just like the real ones.

Check out the one second from the right.

Yeah, I think that's what is meant by "mistake plate". It took me a while to figure this out, too.

What a fantastic picture showing the variations of early sidejacks. Ed's guitars are masterpieces...works of art.

As far as I'm concerned, those are REAL Mosrites...after all, Ed Elliott built Mosrite guitars directly under/next-to Semie for the Mosrite Company...The only difference is the logo on the headstock :)
Who Needs a Time Machine When Ed is Around! (hmmm...maybe a suitable title for an Ed Elliott book on Mosrite? ;) )

Hey there Veenture,
Ed Elliott here, I'm working on a new line of hand-built guitars and basses that's a bit more affordable than my 59 and 63 models. "The RS Series" based on Ol' Uncle Semie's 61-62 Pre-Ventures proto-type, Mosrite's first Reverse Strat
design, the shape that started it all. The're going to avaliable in 1,2 and 3 pickup models
with and without Vibratos, and a Bass model, no extra charge for left-handed guitars and basses, all sorts of custom colors.
I'm taking orders now on a limited bases, I'll have some photos to show in a week or so.

Stay Tuned,
Eddy
