And you're quite right to change the pickguard, that's an eyesore! Instead of tortoise you might want to look at mintgreen... That'll probably catch the faint yellow that's in the finish of the body. Have fun with that Squier, squier

Congrats man, I have been looking at the classic vibe stuff, I'd like to hear your thoughts about your guitar after a while. p.s. don't change a thing it looks great!... to me anyway

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone. Brutus, you really can't go wrong with anything from the classic vibe series. The strat I have has a solid alder body, one piece maple neck and some of the necks have some flame to it (mine does but hard to get a pic of it), medium/jumbo frets on 9-1/2" radius, vintage kluson style tuners, alnico 3 pickups, synchronized tremolo with bent saddles. The strat sounds great and can get some great clean sounds out of it but I want to throw in a seymour duncan jb humbucker in there to get the sound I want. But this is truely a quality guitar even though they are made in China but for sure worth the $350.00 price. The classic vibe 50's tele has a pine body with alnico 3 pickups as well, the 60's strat has a rosewood fretboard and alnico 5 pickups for a warmer sound and a tortise shell pickguard. Squier just added two more guitars to their Tele line up with a telecaster custom with top and back binding on alder body and rosewood fretboard and a thinline tele. Yeah, DON'T change a thing on that pup, it's sweet just the way it is, and I tend to believe if this had been built
in the Custom Shop with the same color scheme, they'd be charging between 4 to 5 Gs......I kid you not..........

My young'in is wanting a new guitar! the Dano U2 isn't cool enough for him anymore.. so I was thinking about the Classic Vibe Duo Sonic or the Dead On 67 Dano thing (he has pretty sophisticated taste for a 5 year old!). I think I will try to steer him toward the Fender, your guitar looks real nice regardless of price

Thanks for the pic Danny. I could possibly deal with that pickguard moreso than the one that's already on there. I've been looking at the pearloid pg's lately.

Hey Kev Happy Birthday! If I knew I would have said something earlier. If you do go with another pick guard, if it was me I would buy a nice hard shell case for this beauty and keep the original guard in that case. If you throw in different pickups, like the JB like you mentioned, remember to get the trembucker version (assuming you are putting it in the bridge) But also remember there's the JB JR as well. it's not as heavy as the JB but does a good job with little mods. you would probably also want to age the white cover on the new pickup, since the others are cream.
The strat I'm finishing for a customer right now has a pearloid guard on it, I'll have to take a pic for ya and post it up.
