Hallmark 60 Custom Surf Pearl!

Postby Bob Shade » Wed Feb 17, 2010 10:13 am

Hello forum members!

I thought it is about time to get some pic's up of the new color this year for the 60 Custom model.

The color is a multi step finish. It bursts from pearl White to aqua to clear water blue. Like most pearl finishes, it is not easy to get the color to look vibrant and like it does in real life. So, just know that this color looks so much better in person. If you look at the close up it almost looks like you are under water.

Here goes:

Oh man, That's beautiful. The finish really jumps out as lively, Even in these pictures.

Su-weeet!

I see the German Carve has been changed on the horn on the high E string side (would this be the lower horn?)

I noticed the change too...more subtle with the edges beveled. We'll see if the production models have this 'softer edge' feature as well on the treble horn ;)
Another thing; I couldn't help but think of Fender's Antigua finish used in the seventies (?) but the Hallmark Surf Pearl is definitely a winner!

Just a quick reminder of the Antigua finish:

Hope you don't mind Bob.

That's really beautiful! Thanks for posting those pics--they certainly show the 3-dimensionality of that finish. But I'm going to stay with the sunburst that I ordered--I don't want to change in mid-order, as it were, and as cool as the Surf Pearl is, the sunburst just has that classic look. I do like the new (old?) carve on the treble-side horn--I hope my 'burst is contoured like that. That was the feature that almost made me consider a 59 Custom, but I decided that the roller bridge would give me more tuning stability, and saving $500 isn't a bad thing either!

Wow! I was all set to order a Pearl White custom 60, but now may have to reconsider this Surf Pearl.....it is absolutely gorgeous, Bob! :D

That is really gorgeous :o ! the little pic I saw from the Guitar Geekfest just did not do it justice. I'm suddenly overcome with G.A.S. again!
