Mosrite Brassrail

Solid hardwood body with maple neck. Available in Std or Deluxe which had active circuitry with a "cassette" insert that could be put in the back through a metal access plate to give different sounds. This guitar gets it's name from the 22 brass frets that are attached to a "brassrail" that runs down the length of the fretboard. Only about 75 of these were built.

p.s. As mentioned earlier, the Doubleneck was WAY too easy!

But, a nice double neck has always been at the back of my mind. But most likely this bass is my last.

I am now getting down to the final stages of scratch building a Mosrite bass clone, here are the latest photo's of rough shaping the German carve. This was accomplished by the use of router, chisel's, power sander and a lot of imagination and elbow grease. Most of you have already seen and heard the guitar played at our recent family gathering. If not Go here.

The next photo's you see will be in the finished stages as I paint it.

Hey Danny I hope you will make a double neck someday. It would be a challenge I'm sure, but it would a great tribute to Semi and also quite rewarding i would think. Plus I would love to see the process and learn from your posts as I would love to build a clone and if I ever do I'm going for the double neck!! I have no luthier experience, but with the help of this forum and enough money for parts it could be done. It is ambitious true, but hey life is too short not to give it a shot

With Dennis and Damon available for tech details, I will also suggest a doubleneck-- not the 50's style like the Maphis/Collins style, but the type Dennis uses as his Avatar signature. Now, Damon throws it into a new perspective. His is a solid body type with an octave neck, while Dennis has the 12 string neck production guitar from a few years later.
Which would it be?

I would probably never use either 12 string or octave enough to make it worth while, but more of a final challenge. I have always be partion to the simplicity and looks of this double neck in the attached photo. Remember this topic?
