Question about who holds their value

Which JR models are we talking about, blue metal flake, white, or just the MKII? Guess, I'm curious on prices for all of those.

I agree on the Hallmarks. As for Fillmore I scored one at about half price on ebay used so who knows, maybe I just got lucky. The two JR forevers that went for under $800 were bought by me. The guy said he really needed the money and that's why he sold them so cheap. He also told me he got them at an auction from Ed when he was closing the store for $1200. Kinda hard to say on those, but I know one keeps getting listed for $3000 with no takers. I pretty much only bought the JR's 'cause they were so cheap and I figured one of my friends might want one so I figured I might share the bargain. Ahh, but so far it's still a bit too steep a price for my buddies. That and some are holding out for something else. I know they are available special order through Front Porch but I don't know for how much.

The Mark II deluxe is s'posedly the same as the JR model, just w/ no Ramones logo & Arite has the for $1,600.00 + $70.00 for shipping at his store. At least that's what he quoted me a few months ago.

I still got em for that price and if you want the one with 2 single coils,you can get those for $1100.with a gig bag! Artie

That's an inappropriate question to of a business on a public forum. Might as well ask what's his dealers cost. Give him a call and maybe you can negotiate the shipping fees.

It's your forum, of course. But, if someone is going to advertise their wares & pricing on a public forum, it seems to me a very appropriate question to ask. JMO

Please reread what I wrote. Give them a call, email or PM. Personally I feel that it is inappropriate to ask a question of that nature on a PUBLIC forum. It's quite appropriate to ask one on one. But a business is in business to sell and make money. Maybe he has to pay employees to box it up and ship it, maybe it cost that much to insure it, or maybe he's making 60 dollars profit on the shipping. According to GTSP post above, that is the retail price and shipping cost quoted to him. If I was serious about making a purchase, I would call and negotiate a price.

Just my 2 cents' worth...seems like it would cost more to ship a guitar in a gig bag than in a hardshell case. There would be extra packing, insurance, etc. and I don't imagine any reasonable business owner would want to risk his product returned because of shipping damage (which can happen despite proper packaging anyway). That being said, I've shipped guitars a couple times, and received a few, always with hardshell cases, and so far I've never had a problem.

Gentlemen, realise this is not a firsthand advertisement by Artie of Front Porch Music on the forum, merely a quote to one customer, quoted by the customer and we don't even know the individual circumstances involved in this case, like customer-demands/wishes, insurance, delivery time (type of carrier), etc. etc.
Obviously shipping prices can vary...shipping to Holland would at least have to cost $150 to $200 I think. My 2 cents'

Taking us back to the original question about holding value, I can understand why the Fillmore guitars hold their value as they are more "Mosrite Correct" than any of the other clones out there. The Kurokomo guitars are close but not like the Fillmore. If the Fillmore guitars had the original Mosrite logo and correct knobs you would swear they were made by Semie Moseley.
