Mod on blue guitar was a stop tailpiece. The white one started out stock with stop tailpiece, bridge pu fried and got Dimarzio FS, not sure on neck pu, which became SD mini hb, knobs got changed and supposedly neck pickup was disconnected, and the tone knob was set to all treble and rendered inoperative. Neck was refretted at least once. Saw it up close and frets were huge comapred to stock, and even those were totally worn. I'm surprised this guitar held up as long as it did. But then again, it is the holy grail.

interesting you say that rocco, cuz my understanding is that the neck were never altered with the exception of the tuners. it's hard to tell because john didnt seem to be the most knowledgeable person when it came to the work done on his guitars.

do you know when Johnny bought the white ventures 2? because I know it was meant to replace the blue one, but I've seen pics that place both guitars around the same time. I have a picture somewhere of John playing a sunburst version in the old CBGB days.

As for John being an a**hole, I really don't know since I never met the man, but it sounds like he was, at least to some. But in all fairness he was a military kid, that grew up to be put in charge of a band of complete misfits. However I think people can be a**holes and cool to fans at the same time. most people I know aren't so one dimensional, I know I'm not. I been called a great, and an A**hole all in the same day, so I guess it all depends on one's given perspective. for example having a persona from co-workers are far different from those of family members, friends, etc. But besides all of that John is my hero too. :)
Cheers,

I saw the white guitar up close at the Rock and Roll HOF, it was refretted at least once. I also read that it was never touched. It had what looked like jumbo frets, with huge craters at each string. Fret board was very worn too.

mehh... ahh well it dont matter. i loved the video and i hope you post more soon
oh and dont forget to show us your style and not Johnny Ramones! :D

Exactly!
A lot of people tend to forget that. Just because you've got a Mark II:ish model doesn't mean you automatically have to play Ramones-style punk rock on it. I don't think Johnny would be too keen on all these people trying to copy his style. ;) He stated many many times that you just have to get out there, be yourself and try to be original. That was the only way.

And nobody will ever REALLY nail it. Because you just don't have his hands.
Being influenced by someone is great, just don't let it go to your head completely. That's my opinion anyways. :)

/\/\/\ haha JohnnySonic knows!
yeah i mean tbh i dont see the point in playing if you dont develop your own style i mean musics an art and no one buys unoriginal art! (as far as i know) you've gotta be an individual and make your music interesting :D

As far as you folks who have now received your Sheena and Road to Ruin models; how feasible is it when it comes to playing all genres of music...re: w/ solos, bending strings, etc. I know that my Mark V and Ventures II seem to be not quite right when playing live(feedback, and other issues arise due to the fact that a use a dual rectifier and a little bit more gain in some areas. Thanx.

The book I'm reading "I Slept w/ Joey Ramone" written by Joeys younger brother. He saw him hit the chick he was dating before he stole Joey's girl friend. Although he didn't really steal her. Joey was so messed up in the head. He was a slob w/ OCD up the wazoo, he was a drunk and a hot head. Joey had a long time girlfriend named Angela that joey hit as well.

This book is kinda messed up b/c, even tho I know these guys didn't really get along, it exposes them as jerks and how they squandered so many opportunities. If John would've just eased up on the crazy Ramones kind fo military structure, they probably could've been alot bigger. THen again, maybe they would've changed to the point where they suck. WHo knows.

Remember, the book was written by Joeys brother, who is arguably upset(or so I've read) about payment for parts he played on records and roadie work, who knows, jealousy maybe. The Ramones always made money, but not always lots of it. Anyone involved with them will always say that Johnny kept it together, and made sure they made money. As for squandered opportunities? Sometimes you end up influencing literally thousands of bands and not getting the recognition you rightfully deserve. Life is unfair that way, and they accepted it. As for his "military" style, someone has to do the dirty work. In the end, they were able to retire, while the evil Johnny worked to handle their business affairs. Johnny got to be business partners with Mickey Leigh(Joeys brother) and Charlotte Lesher(Joeys mom) due to Joeys death. Was there some bad blood there? Probably. I believe Johnnys estate owns the name, I could be wrong. Remember, the remaining members of the band did not play Joeys 50th bday party because they didn't want Mickey filling in for Joey, and a bit of a dispute ensued between the parties, not legal, just a dispute. So they did not play, but they were going to.

Joey died in the hospital with his family there, Dee Dee tragically od'd and Johnny died at home surrounded by family and friends. Surving members still show up to celebrate Johnny and Joeys birthdays each year and raise money for cancer research. And if you watch the documentary, listen to what Johnny says about Joey "he was a Ramone, and I loved the Ramones". But they weren't friends. Too bad.
