Re: Vibramute trem dimensions
Well, I see no one has responded to your question. so I'll give it a try. I will try to describe the area where I take the measurements and hopefully you will be able to follow what I'm trying to describe. Measurements will be in inches.
Overall length, 4 1/16"
Length from the bridge side of base plate to the curved recess where the Vibramute writing is located, 3 13/16"
Width at the widest point, that being where the spring area protrudes farther out from the rest of the plate, 3 7/16"
Width at bridge end of base, 3 3/16"
Width at opposite end where it say's Vibramute, 3 3/16"
Height where the bearings for the rocker attaches, 15/64"
Center of rocker bearing hole from end of base, 1 1/8"
Center of recess for the spring measuring from the base end 1 15/16"
Thickness of base plate is 3/16"
Once you get that done, let me know and I will give you the measurements for the rocker and arm assembly if you need it.

I plan to cut it from a billet. I hope that it is doable. I rread on the net that it is possible torout alu with a woodrouter so I try that to get everything nice and tight.

If you use a good milling machine with a lot of oil you should be able to do it. Just move slow.

Re: Vibramute trem dimensions
When you use a router on the aluminum please use a bit made for Aluminum. Don't force the bit let it cut and do it's work. If you use an electrical router (NOT RECOMMENDED) keep the chips from back drafting into the motor. Remember to never use a aluminum on a grinding wheel. I apologize if you already know that it's the safety beast coming out in me. Would love to see pictures of the progress.

Sorry about mothering.
I work at a major aircraft manufacturer in Everett Wash. as a training instructor and sometimes I just automatically go for the safety. If you can show some pics it would be great.

Re: Vibramute trem dimensions
Today I was milling the whole day this is what i have so far:

I have a micro mill with a crosstable. Its a bit difficult, at first it is like drawing a magic etch-a-sketch screen:
I wonder if the trem has to be two way and is balanced between strings and spring or that it is one way : dive bombs only???
