veenture--that sunburst Custom 60 is absolutely gorgeous! I'm probably going to have to get one of those.

Curious about the frets on the clones. Which ones if any actually have the speed frets? Or the closest to a real reproduction of the speed frets? I went up on the Japanese sites several months ago---some of them will sell to you directly. But its impossible to tell what kind of frets they have.

My first choice was sunburst but when I found someone selling this baby, I drove round trip from Nashville to Cincinnati in one day to pick it up. after seeing Veenture's photo, I still want a sunburst!!! Image

Congratulations, jtarbutn--that's a nice one! You must have wanted it awful bad, or gotten a killer deal, or both--that's a heckuva drive! Nashville to Cincinnati and back--got to be 4-5 hours each way, at least. Let us know how you like it!

Congrats from me too jtarbutn! Your Candy Apple Red seems to have some sparkle in it as well :o, a bit different from the CAR on the Hallmark website, but photos can be tricky. It's a real beaut for sure but the Sunburst is classic and a "must- have" for me to begin with... (I want 'em all :D )

BTW, I can relate to the long trip you were prepared to make...if you REALLY want something bad, you give it all you've got. A few years back I drove all the way to Germany...just for a Swedish made Amtech PRO echo box. It was the nearest place a shop actually had one in stock. There was a huge traffic jam on the way and we arrived in the afternoon...only to find that the shop was already closed for the weekend! (it was a Saturday and I had to learn the hard way that shops close early there  ). Bummer -whole trip for nothing. Yes, the following week I made another trip and made shure the shop was open that day and had the Echo box. They guy felt sorry for me and gave me a discount to help compensate for fuel costs :)

You're right on both scores. The seller wouldn't ship it (too afraid of online scams, I assume) and I did get a killer deal on it (plus I needed to see it in person). It is in showroom condition. By the way, I like it very much!!! I'm looking around at my other equipment to see if there is something I can sell so I can order a sunburst model.

Per my previous question, does that Hallmark have the speed frets or something more standard?

Telling from all of the pictures of the Mosrite Speed Frets that I've seen, I would say the Hallmark's (my Sunburst) frets are slightly narrower (giving more accurate intonation!) and stand only slightly taller than those of a Mosrite. I would say the Hallmark frets are like 'one size' smaller than the Fender Vintage frets on my '57 Reissue Fender Stratocaster.

The Hallmark 60 Custom's fret measures exactly 2 mm in thickness at the base (just above where it meets the fret board) and is dressed in such a way that it is perfectly rounded off at the top, losing about half of a mm in thickness. (total height is appr. 1 mm from fret board up). So they are not flat like the Mosrite speed frets which have the appearance of having been filed down. Of course, the Hallmark's frets can be filed down according to one's own preference but I'm not touching those on mine, except when playing.
Hope this helps.
