New member! Young Swedish Mosrite fanatic.

Postby JohnnySonic » Wed Dec 09, 2009 7:30 pm

Hi!

Name's John. 18 years old from Sweden.

I guess my history with Mosrites (and music overall) started with The Ramones, who made me pick up a guitar.
From the beginning, I always thought Mosrites were the coolest guitars ever made. So I knew I had to have one.
Though it was impossible at the time, because I couldn't even play yet, and I don't have the moeny or the guts to find a Mosrite to use as a first guitar.

So I practiced constantly for about two years with an Epi Les Paul Special II. Pretty dull guitar, but it got the job done, for me as a beginner anyways.

So, two years went by, then I decided it was time.

The scandinavian distributor for Mosrite had the last limited edition Ramones-models on sale for about 15% off.
Making it the cheapest one avaliable. But lucky for me I was a huge fan.

So I snagged one for about 1800$ american.

It's a great guitar. And since then I've really broadened my horizons. Using the guitar of Johnny Ramone for a lot of different types of music.
Like funk, soul, surf, blues aswell as all the high energy Rock'n'Roll stuff and I've also aquired huge affection for loads of bands using Mosrites like The Ventures, The Hellacopters and MC5.

It really is the coolest and most overlooked guitar brand out there in my opinion.

That's about it. My next purchase looks to be a Fillmore MK II, and modifying it to my liking.
But MAN would I love a black MK I, or a white one with a black/tortoise pickguard...

Oh well... Someday ;)

Best wishes. - John

Did you buy the Johnny model from Hi-Tone Music? Since I bought the last JR signature they had for 1500 euros. JS 226.

Sure did! Mine I think is JS 227 or 228. It's at the studio at the time, so I can't check.
Cool. =)

Thank you for the nice welcoming everyone!

Welcome to the forum, John! Glad to have you aboard, Now I don't feel so alone here being 18 years old myself. What other music do you listen to? I've taken a liking to the band XTC recently, It took me time to like them but it's been rewarding.
