Daughter learning guitar - the magic of Mosrite

My daughter started taking guitar lessons a few weeks ago. She's been struggling to sound the chords; even with the half size guitar the string tension and action is a challenge for her small hands. So, as she was getting frustrated, I offered to let her try daddy's guitar as a bit of inspiration. I got the Mosrite, plugged it in and handed it over. Even though the guitar is almost as big as she is, with the speed frets and super low action, she was fingering chords with ease! My only trouble is now she wants a Mosrite of her own!

Great picture! I remember starting out on guitar, I didn't even want to try because it felt like I was going nowhere. Sounds like I could have used a Mosrite to help me out starting.

You know something, in my very young days my parents always bought shoes for us kids at a shoestore that sold the brand called...."STARTRITE"! (South Africa, early fifties). That would've been a very fitting name also for a possible Semie Moseley line of guitars...for the kids starting out!

It was great seeing her chug away on an E chord - Johnny Ramone would have been proud (heck, she's already got the curly version of the Ramones 'do).

So far they've learned A, D, and E and now are supposed to practice switching between A and D.

I think the challenge will be getting her to practice on her guitar again. I filed down the bridge to get the action as low as possible, but there's no truss rod adjustment so there's only so much I can do. Really, there's no guitar I've ever had that's as effortless to play as my Mosrites.

Yes, Christmas (and Hanukkah ) are coming, but I told her that if she's serious I'd get her a guitar if she continues to practice after the lessons are done. Maybe I can get her one of those Hello Kitty Squiers or a Daisy Rock and give it a speed fret job. Or I better get used to sharing my Mosrites!

Well, There are some 3/4 Mosrites out there. I haven't seen one for a while but maybe you could find one of those?
