Review on Hallmark 60 Custom part 2

Postby jtr654 » Sat Oct 17, 2009 3:37 pm

I used my Hallmark for 2 sets each night 10/9 &10 /09. The tuning was incredibly stable for these type of tuners ( the last time I used this type was in the early 70's) they must have improved the ratio a lot on these new ones. I kept on thinking these strings must be a set of 9's but they are 10's? Most of the sets I used the bridge pickup as it cut better ( I open it up to find 250k pots) the mid position was nice but blended to much with the other instruments ( it has a nice acoustic feel/sound). I had no problems switching back and forth between guitars other than changing the EQ and upping the Volume. Useing the trem was no problem, the volume knob has now been changed for a Tele type one. To really get the most out of the H60C I'll have to start from square one with the EQ on my live setup. At home I been using My 65 Princeton Reverb with a Altec 417 with the bass & treble on 10. All 3 position sound nice but I like the N/B as it has a real full range sound, the bridge is cutting but not peirceinglly bright. I've had no feedback problems at all in either situations. Its a very versatile guitar handles clean- overdrive sound and the use of FX's with no problems. Live I use a Fuchs ODS 100 through a 69 Marshall basketweave 4x12 and FX through a Loop.

Hey, I find that interesting...what was the reason for the change? Perhaps you may want to check out this old thread:

I've already got the knob with a notch so I can judge where my volume is and this way I keep the original knob untampered with.
