That is starting to look really great Danny. Can't wait to see it finished.

Re: Mosrite 'Knock Off' Project #6 double neck
Got the p'up covers made today. I started out by setting the drill press to a specific depth and drilling a series of holes to eliminate as much wood as possible prior to using the router. After which I used a template I made to guide the router to finish carving out the inside of the cover to fit the pickup. I removed the brass bottom plate off the pickup and used that as a guide to drill the holes for the pole adjusting screws. The next step was to use a straight edge to align the string slots in the bridge and the slots in the nut, to the pole screw holes in the cover, then marked them by tracing the outline of the cover onto the body of the guitar. This will give me the reference marks for setting my pickup routing template in place on the body. No room for error here.
At any rate, here are a few photo's to depict the process and what it will looks like by setting the covers statically in place. BTW, the covers are made out of American Walnut.

To give you an idea of what the original guitar with the wooden covers looked like, here is forum member Damon67's original '63 restored by Bob Shade. You can see where Semie went a little too close cutting away too much wood in the German carve on the top pickup and ferrel insert for the bridge post. Also he had to do some creative shaping along the botton edge at the side jack mounting point and this is not a convex carve as I would have thought. This is the only guitar I've seen that was cut a little undersized as all others he had rectified this problem.
The following link depicts another doubleneck that Semie started in about 1961-62 and didn't finish until 1966. This guitar was built for Jelly Sanders, a local Bakersfield musician. You can see that he made the edge of the p'up covers with a step down lip as opposed to Damon and my guitar. It is really an eye catcher.

Danny, what are you making the covers out of? Is that Walnut?

Yeah, and it makes for a great screen saver.
Unfortunately my wife didn't think it was so neat.

My wife is from the same tribe. They somehow do not appreciate certain types of fine art.
