Anyone here know:
-What amp settings John used on his JMP in the early days (76-78)?
-What amp settings John used on his JMP 2203 (MK II, master volume head. Big Marshall text, white lining. 78-84 or something.)?
-What Marshall speaker cabinet it specifically was. (Yeah, I know it was a 4x12 Marshall cab. I mean like was it 1960A or something else.)
-What tubes he used? (I'm guessing electro harmonix.)
-How high did he keep his pickups on the blue slab Mosrite Ventures II?
It'd be interesting to know.

Re: Johnny Ramone gear questions
As far as the amp settings, I have read that everything was on 10, but I don't know that for sure.
here's a link that might give you some info:

Re: Johnny Ramone gear questions
Johnny always kept volume(s) on 10 (even on the 2203 which has master volume), the rest not. This was a problem for the band since his guitar was always louder than their PA so you couldnt hear the rest of the band through his wall of noise!
I've checked that site but no luck.

Re: Johnny Ramone gear questions
I'm not 100% sure but if you look inside the gatefold of It's Alive, Johnny was using what looks like a Big Muff. I haven't looked in many years, but check it out for yourself. Also in the CD reissue of their 1st album, it looks like Johnny is recording with a black Ventures model. I'll will be asking Tommy on October 3rd in Hollywood maybe he'll shed some light.

He had a box on the floor that was a cut switch to his amps, maybe that's what you saw....

Yeah it's just an A/B box. John had a black ventures II in the early days as a backup guitar. Exactly the same except for the color compared to the blue one.

Re: Johnny Ramone gear questions
I believe this guitar is in the "I Beleive In Miracles" video and if I'm not mistaken, is kind of purplish in color, been years since I saw it. He may not have even owned this guitar. Johnny was working on his memoirs prior to his death, hopefully it will see the light of day.
As for amp settings, I was told that in the later JCM800 years, everything was on 10 except the bass, which was at 5.

This is true with the JCM800, but I don't care about that. I've never liked the 800 or the later ramo sound.
