Moserite headstock logo

Postby mark1 » Mon Sep 21, 2009 4:40 pm

Would anyone know if Mosrite ever used a decal on the headstock? It has been my understanding that it has always been a screenprint.I could be wrong :? I just had a go around with a VERY nasty ebayer about it.I would just like to get the facts straight.

Thats what I thought. This person says they are from the 60's and is positive they are the real thing. This is where I got my info from and TYM guitars. This guy let me have it with both barrels and is sure that I don't know what I'm talking about.Talk about foul language

Well, some people can be hard to deal with whether they're right or wrong.

I have heard stories about Mosrite / Ventures decals being used by dealers after the Ventures logo disappeared from the headstocks.

There have been repro decals of one kind or another on the market for quite a few years. The earliest ones that I remember date back to the late '60s and early '70s, when the vintage market was just starting to grow. But most of these were Martin, Fender and Gibson decals.

Out of curiousity.... What would the dimensions be for the headstock logo?
(MOSRITE Of California)

Did the sizes vary, dependant on the model, or year?

I have found silk screen logo sizes all over the spectrum. It depends on years made and production runs as opposed to individually made guitars.

Thats what I thought... I've playing around with water slip decals for a Mosrite Vibrato On/Off Switch for my amp. Nothing like the one or two original footswitches I've seen on the forum but more like a... New Oldsrite.
