Hello. My first post here. I"m a long time Ventures fan, having bought their first album and all I could get my hands on after that. I've been to three of their concerts and talked with most of them. I play also, and started a Ventures type band in college. Later I played in country music bands but always having an instrumental in every set.

I played a Ventures Mosrite once while in an Oregon music store. Very nice, but too much for a poor college student. Many years later I answered an ad in our small town newspaper for a Mosrite that was for sale. Went over there--nice, original case, well cared for, with the light crazing of the finish here and there. Guy wanted $200 for it. Can't remember the reason I couldn't swing it but it was probably financial issues. I've really kicked myself over the years for not going ahead and purchasing it. I know I would still have it.

Right now I'm looking at the Aria DM 380 which looks nice and affordable to boot.

Glad to be here!

Welcome Ultrastick,

Don't give up on a Mosrite or at least a Hallmark Custom 60. Those other copies are nothing like a Mosrite. So don't waste your money on something that simply looks like a Mosrite. The won't have the sound or the feel.

Ultrastick, Another welcome from AZ. No worries, I don't own a Mosrite Guitar yet Either however, Someday I'll own one to go along with my Mosrite Tube Amp... The Hallmarks seem to be the way to go these days as I've been reading the reviews from the Mosriteers here...
Again welcome and Enjoy.

Although I haven't played a Mosrite or Hallmark I can agree about the sound. I tried an Eastwood Hi Flyer once and it didn't sound like a Mosrite. It is a copy of a copy though so what should I expect?

Hey, another fervent Ventures fan! 8-)
I’m still collecting stuff myself (see viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1082 ). The Ventures are almost like ‘family’ to me…like this forum has become too… :P

Oh, the Hallmark 60 Custom has satisfied my burning need for a Mosrite guitar...finally -this year. It's a 'first' and excellent substitute for the real deal and for a lot less $$ ;)

Welcome! Several great possibilities for a Mosrite-style here on the forum - unless you want a vintage original. Then, it's off to eBay or Craigslist. At any rate, you can find something that'll satisfy that craving. Enjoy the forum!
