New member, Chippie - doubleneck Mosrite
Hello everyone. My name is Doug Brewer or user's name as 'Chippie'. A brief background... I am 65 years old and lived most of my life in Semie Moseley's hometown of Bakersfield, CA. I retired from the State of California in 2004 and have worked part time as a building inspector and do other duties as assigned by my wife, Pam. I am a proud owner of a doubleneck Mosrite. I wll tell you briefly how this came to be. I was around 12 or 13 years of age when Semie Moseley had a gig at our church on Sunday morning in Bakersfield. Semie brought his tripleneck guitar to church in a pillowcase. I was absolutely amazed at his playing and of course the guitar he built. That day changed my young life forever. My dad was at church and was also amazed. I told my dad I would like to have a guitar by Semie Moseley someday. He told me if I learned to play he would try to buy one from Semie. A few years later my dad and I went to Semie Moseley's shop on Panama Lane in Bakersfield. This was a tin building where he built guitars. While I was at Semie's shop Joe Maphis' guitar came in for repairs. WOW! Semie allowed me to play Joe's guitar. My dad asked Semie how much a doubleneck guitar like Joe Maphis' would cost and Semie said $1700. A lot of money in 1959. Semie said he would take $850.00 cash and allow me to work the rest out by sanding, winding pickups and whatever else Semie wanted me to do. Semie needed money and this is how I was able to get a Mosrite guitar. Semie said it would be number 5 of this type guitar (Joe, Larry, Doyle Hart, Bob Reagan and mine). He made one for Elaine Frizzell sometime later. I will tell you more about my doubleneck and what happened to the headcaps at a later time, which Lorretta in Booneville, AR repaired. More to come soon, Chippie.

Welcome to the forum Doug! What a special opportunity to have been able to build your guitar with Semie. And it's clear from the beautiful condition of the guitar that it's something you've always handled with care.
