I need 2 knobs for a Celebrity

Postby GTSP » Fri Jul 31, 2009 6:32 am

Yep, I bought a Celebrity...finally. The Celebrity I bought though has it's 2 knobs missing. They were used for another Mosrite project, apparently.

If anybody has a couple they can sell me, drop me a pm.

Thanks,

Jayson

These might tide you over until you find the vintage ones you need.

So, what did you get? Would love to see pictures, too. I am so thrilled with my Celebrity and it's become my main player.

What series Celebrity is it? We could establish whether it needs tall or short knobs to be matchy-matchy.

Serial # K 1067 Celebrity III. Here is a pic. Anybody have advise, suggestions, lemme know. Are there different knobs for different mosrites? I know those modern ones on Ebay are made by Kurkomo(spelling?) & they're metric or something & won't work on a vintage Mosrite. If there is a way to change 'em to work, I'd be cool with that until I can get some real ones. I bought a pair of those & put 'em on my Ranger & they look really good. What kinda knobs should I be looking for for this Celebrity III.

Thanks to all who have been helpful in my search for a Celebrity.

From what I can gather, there are three styles of metallic knobs: spun (with grooves in the side like the switch tips, early stuff), and short/tall hat style. Your hardware looks like it would have been matched with the short hat-style knobs.

Short ones like these, pretty sure.

I think that is correct. My Celebrity III is serial number K0772. It has the short hat style with the "M" on top. Mine also has the "T" for Tone and "V" for Volume. If what I read on Tym Guitars website these were the style used in 1965 and 1966. However in late 1966 they removed the "T" and "V", presumably to make them interchangeable. My guess is that you would want these style of knobs.
