Hey there, and welcome to the forum! The shoe analogy might work (doubt it though), but your best bet is to come home with something she really would love to have as well. It may double your investment but hey, it's a win-win!

Hey, Sarah--

My wonderful spouse, Patty, learned the "equal value for each guitar purchase" trick early on. I'd bring in a new (to me) guitar and she would say, "Oh, now I get those new curtains I've been wanting," or, "Great; if we have money for a new guitar we can surely afford a new couch, huh, Dear?"

So I started bartering graphics or photographic services for instruments the last couple of years (with a few exceptions).

Patty's new declaration became: "For every new guitar case you bring in, you have to get rid of two old ones. Our house isn't big enough for all those guitars."

So I put new guitars in old hard-shell cases but that didn't work for long, either. She had counted the cases!

So I began storing a few guitars at the office. I have high hopes for that plan!

So it goes!!!

Nice! My wife and I do the Barter agreement as well. I found that one for me and two for you
significantly reduced the number questions I had to answer. 8-)
I like the way you think Jim ;)

Spoke to Bob Shade today. We had a marathon session of photo-taking yesterday, with John's able assistance!

It started out hot in my office photo studio, and, what with the lights and such, it got much hotter fast.

Anyway, Bob thinks that, for my rockabilly-wannabe-style playing, a Vintage Stradette might be the right guitar for me. I am attracted to that whacky shape anyway, and Bob thinks he has a black one that might work pretty nice.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Also, I got to play a vintage Mosrite bass of John's and was reminded why I loved the Mosrite bass I had for a short time back in the early '70s. Super-nice action and a wonderful feel to the neck.

Don't want to give away what we photographed yesterday, but I am astonished at what Bob and John are turning out. They are respectful of the players' needs and pocketbook, and deserve every bit of success they achieve.

Hey, Thunderhead!

One of the guitars photographed yesterday was the Wing-Bat, and I loved it. I was especially impressed by the red LEDs that are on the bottom of the guitar as an "afterburner!"

I am a huge fan of the TV Batmobile and the photos I had seen of the Hallmark Wing-Bat didn't show the elegance of its shape and contour. The Wing-Bat really does evoke the TV Batmobile and I hope our photos convey that to the viewer.

Only hint I'll give about the others we shot was that one had a "mistake-plate" and was an absolute stunner.

I was honored to work with Bob and John on this shoot and hope to photograph many more of their creations. They are a couple of fun guys to be with and they know their business!

In the Mosrite arena I'm happy with just my Hallmark 60 Custom Sunburst (heck, my Ventures guitar :P ) but that '59 should be something too! ...still wondering about the date of the "mistake plate" though...wasn't it in the early sixties?

Anyway, now where's my Ventures "Batman" cd...going to give it a spin...
