Hey, I didn't know there was such a thing as an Appalachian surf band! I'm right up the road from Kingsport, in Pikeville, KY. I am a California transplant, and am really struggling with trying to learn to like bluegrass music. I'll have to check in to coming to one of your shows. You've got some really serious gear, there. You guys sound great too! Maybe I can get you to come up here and introduce these hillbillies to some real music .........

Hey Billy, yeah I've got what you might call connections. I'll have to see if they are interested. People here, when you mention surf music, they say, "Oh, you mean like the Beachboys?" But I'll check into it. It would be really cool to get you guys up here. I'm going to look into coming to see you in Tenn., though. Where is Gray, anyway. I've been through Jonesborough, where that one YouTube clip was filmed. Incidentally, do you still have the Jazzmaster? -or has the Hallmark become a permanent replacement?

I still have the Jazzmaster, the Hallmark and three Mosrites. I also have a pile of Teles, Strats, Hollowbodies and a half dozen Acoustics. I also have a Dozen Amps and tons of pedals. I played Professionally with several Blues recording artist for 20 years and aquired a lot of "Tax Deductable Tools". I encounter the same thing down here with Surf Music. The Ventures Drummer Mel taylor was from Johnson City Tenn., just south of Kingsport and nobody seems to care. The current Drummer Leon Taylor, Mel's son was also born in JC. Semie Mosley, builder of The Ventures Guitars had a shop about an hour from here and is buried here. So there is some history of Surf Music and Surf Guitars tied to this area!!! I'm actually in Bristol Tenn., the Birthplace of Country Music. We have the same dilema here, all Bluegrass almost all the time!!! Send me a PM with your email and I'll make sure I send you our Future dates. Thanks for you interest - Billy Crawford

Feel free to post that information in the Members Music and Gigs section of this forum, that's what it's for. You never know when someone lurking this forum may be in the area when you're playing.
