Re: mosrite forever ..........
Tim - The only time I could afford a Mosrite back then, the only one that was available was a Joe Maphis double neck. I owned that guitar less than a day. I bought in on a Friday afternoon, played it on a job Friday night, and took it back to the store on Saturday morning. I was just a little guy back then and the double-neck was so "neck" heavy that I had trouble staying up-right and playing at the same time.
gplayer - Your icon makes me homesick. That guitar is at home and I'm at work. Sick !!!

Wow Time, having owned that many models I'll bet you could give us Mosrite newbies some great reviews to educate us on the differences, etc. That would be totally sweet! *hint, hint*

Re: mosrite forever ..........
Sarah, I think there are others here more qualified than me to do the "educating." Some of these dudes even build them. I just owned them, played them and passed them on. I notice you are a Celebrity owner, though. The Celebrity bass is a very nice short scale bass -I had one once. I also had a Celebrity 12 string -a pretty rare bird. I guess my favorite hollow bodied Mosrite, though, is the Combo. I've had several of those. I especially liked one very early one I had, with the one piece vibrato (like the Ventures models). I've even noticed a couple of pictures on Ventures albums where they were holding Combos. It's similar to the Maphis models, only with one f-hole. In sunburst with the body binding, it goes really good with a '63 sb, bound body Ventures model. Back in the early 90's, you could find Combos & Celebrities all over for $500- 600.00. I think the value of all the non-Ventures Mosrites started climbing when everyone started seeing them on ebay.
