Not for everyone but I loved The 1966 Batmobile and crossing it with Mosrite style features did it for me. I'll post the lowdown on it when i get it. Billy Crawford, AKA "Thunderhead"

YOU TOO, CONGRATS BILLY! ;)

That Bat Wing guitar is wild. It will be real eye catcher on stage. Love to see some "action" pics of it....and Timr, congrats on the H60C. They're great players.

Yeah, that "Wing Bat" thing is kinda cool looking. I just can't seem to get into the Swept Wing, but those custom shop "Stradettes" on the website are gorgeous. I'm anxious to see what this '59 thing is going to be like.

I've only had the Custom 60 for 2 days now, but I'm already thinking if you could only have one electric and one acoustic, and they both had to be under $1,000.00 -this would have to be the electric. And I'm also happy with my 80's Ovation Custom Legend for the acoustic.

If I could ever get my son to give me back the old Bluesbender, I could at least have something that Semie actually made. I'm thinking he may be tiring of it by now, since he just bought a new PRS -

Anyway, I think I'll go see if I can make my wife have a nervous breakdown by playing Diamond Head one more time on the Custom 60 ................

It may seem a little odd, but it was Bob Bogle's death that got me searching for my ultimate guitar. I have had my eye on the Mosrite ever since it showed up on "The Fabulous Ventures in mid '64. Having played a few of the Japanese models over the years (I've been playing since 1960) I was a little dissapointed with the cost and the varied degree of quality that I was experiencing. I mean they are just copies, with now production ties to Semie other than the profit to be had. I wanted to get into this for a little less cash than "Ed" was asking. After a brief discussion with the guy, who could not justify the cost (except maybe to himself) I hung up with a bad taste in my mouth. Like I said, I was trying to hold the cost down so I looked at Eastwood (only a copy of a copy), then Wilson Brothers (out of stock everywhere) which was ultimately to my favor as one of their reviewers mentioned Hallmark. After visiting the site and actually speaking to Mr. Shade, I knew my search was over. OK, I was a little cheap to start with, and $900 was more than I planed to pay. But, I am happy to have come to the point where I am now. I don't have to mention the quality that we are dealing with here, as I have read this thread a couple of times through. Do any of you realize how difficult it is to operated a computer while you a patting yourself on the back.
Sorry, but the guitar is calling. Catch you all during the next break.

have you looked at Dana Mosley's guitars in Bakersfield? They are as close as you can get to the old Mosrite guitars.

Back to Hallmark 60 Custom:

A stranger showed up at my house today to pick up an old bicycle my son had put on the internet to sell…(man, lotsa bikes here I tells you)

It was a young man in his early 30’s whom I let into the house and he couldn’t help but notice my AVRI Strat ’57 and Vibrolux amp sitting in the living room and his face lit up… “so you play the guitar too!”, he concluded.
My setup looked very inviting so from one guitar player to another I said “well, then you must be a player too …go ahead and play if you like and tell me what you think of her, she’s still brand new”.
He needed no further prompting and was soon hitting it off doing some nice rhythmic strumming, intricate and fast finger picking and also some cool riffs. My jaw dropped…clearly he was an advanced player. “My neighbours will be thinking ‘Paul’s progressing at last’…” I joked. (laughs).

Guitar enthusiasm fired up and pushed the bicycle topic right to the background -it would have to wait…

He voiced his compliments for my gear but things were yet to become better as a little voice in my brain was nudging me on saying…
“come on Paul, show him your Mosrite!”
I honestly had no desire to brag but I reasoned: what the heck, he is a guitarist after all –and a good ’un too! …at any rate I shan’t be ‘throwing pearls before swine’.

Let me get straight to the point. After a minute or so into my Hallmark 60 Custom after I had handed it over to him, it was now his turn for jaw dropping.
One superlative after another followed as he proceeded with test driving it. He praised it for it’s playability and feel… “this is a real players’ guitar, I love it…amazing how chords are much easier to play and intonation stays true as you move further up on the neck. He remarked that the Strat was less suitable in this respect. I could agree.

He was repeatedly in awe and I could tell that his admiration was spontaneous and genuine. I guess these are symptoms of being ‘blown away’ –which he was IMO.

I gave him the low down on Mosrite and Hallmark and explained that Mosrite is one of the most copied guitars in the world, next to Fender and Gibson. “...really?!”
It was all new to him and he was not familiar with the iconic offset body shape but it sure was growing on him and he liked the sound very much.
“You won’t find another one quickly in Holland” I said and so I pointed him to Hallmark guitars [Bob, if you receive another order from Holland in the near future, it could possibly be from our bicycle friend]. He invited me check out his “myspace” http://www.myspace.com/leemason which I did. ;)

I think that Bob Shade should have you doing there P.R. I think you could sell some for them over there. Buy the way I agree with all you say about the 60 Custom. Truly a great guitar.

Bob or Johnny - Any updates on the rollout times for the new Hallmarks (especially the 59 Custom)? Been saving my change for months to (hopefully) snag one ...
